Happy New Year! January is depressing, but lets brighten it up with some new-season looks. Pastels are going nowhere and with spring just around the corner (well…ish) it’s time to invest in baby pink and duck egg blue- the ultimate 2014 colour combination. And banish those bulky bib necklace (so last year, cmon) to make room for delicate jewels. How gorgeous is this satin skort from Topshop? I am currently reviewing my ‘No shopping in January’ resolution….

Summer may be far behind us (and long to come, cry), but I think nude lace is really seasonably versatile, as well as being a never-date classic on the catwalks all year round. I find it works particularly well with fur and suede, as I love to add more than 1 texture to a look. The neutral tones but interesting shape and feel to this outfit will really make it stand out this winter.

11/11 11am every year we have two minutes of silence in remembrance of those that have fought and died in every conflict around the world. We wear the striking red poppy, be it pinned to a jacket or work with pride on a t-shirt; what matters is the effort to show our respect and help fundraise for the poppy appeal. Why not channel this deserving cause into your wardrobe, using poppy prints and brushes of red? This gorgeous shift dress works perfectly with pointy courts and a mini satchel – great for an easy office-to-party look.

It’s that time of year again! Yeah, where we all forget that bonfire night is a few days after Halloween and we’re just not ready 🙂 I love autumn; so many excuses to party ,eat and drink too much , dress up all sparkly and all of the above. This look compiles my undeniable lust for sequins and glitter but I think it’s wearable and not too OTT. Literally every piece is on my current want-list. I mean, check out those glitter soled velvet cut out Topshop boot for crying out loud! It’d be a a waste of money NOT to get them. It’s an investment. Oh god, goodbye savings…

As I moved to Edinburgh I discovered Nikki McWilliams, a designer, and now well-known brand, who created the wonderful concept of cushions, along with other interior products from wrapping paper to iPhone cases, adorned with biscuits and sweet wrappers we all know and love. My personal favourite is the custard cream, but she is famous for the Tunnocks Caramel range; I spoke to the great-granddaughter of Tunnocks’ founder and she had nothing but praise for the talented Nikki! Check out her instagram (@nikkimcwilliams) too for endless creative posts, and be sure to give her online shop a look to see a whole range of incredible designs. This look embodies those fab biscuits: red dress with gold for the Caramel Wafer, Digestive-coloured shoes, and a pale yellow bag for Custard Creams! I always think that nude/neutral accessories pair perfectly with red, to really emphasize the bright colour and also keep it ladylike.

I went to see Laura Mvula at the Queen’s Hall yesterday ; she was so good I literally cried. You know the kind of music that makes you happy to be alive? She is so inspiring and just gorgeous (plus: fun fact, she went to my secondary school, Swanshurst, in Birmingham!) Her band were great too, with harps, double basses, drums and violins. I really do recommend a listen to her album, Make Me Lovely. (look here ) She wore a fantastically simple and grown up black slouchy jumpsuit, but showed her individuality by accessorising it with dozens of striking bangles, a statement ring and the hugest wedges I have seen in my life. Her dark puce lips and long thick lashes really stood out to me too. This look is achievable, just have a little confidence.

I saw this rainbow earlier down at the harbour, it’s so beautiful. Brighten up any rainy day with this sun and rain inspired look with girly extras. I don’t usually use high-end stuff, but I fell in love with this Kenzo cloud-print skirt! And I discovered these Blackheart rainbow nail polishes; how cool is the skull design? I don’t know how easily the colours would get separated in the bottle, but they are instant nail art that’ll look so pretty in the make up bag.
