#80 Poppy Day

y (31)

11/11 11am every year we have two minutes of silence in remembrance of those that have fought and died in every conflict around the world. We wear the striking red poppy, be it pinned to a jacket or work with pride on a t-shirt; what matters is the effort to show our respect and help fundraise for the poppy appeal. Why not channel this deserving cause into your wardrobe, using poppy prints and brushes of red? This gorgeous shift dress works perfectly with pointy courts and a mini satchel –  great for an easy office-to-party look.

#67 Swedish Lines

I have had the most amazing day at Ikea today. That shop is honestly heaven, the amount of time you can spend imagining yourself in various perfect rooms and being all trendy and Swedish! And don’t even get me started on the meatballs. Anyway, street style in Sweden is all very minimalist and androgynous with clean lines and tailored cuts, so channel the look with a very OTM boyfriend jacket. H&M , a Swedish brand, always have great basics and structured pieces. They do some fab designer collaborations too, like the latest Isabel Marant collection (http://about.hm.com/AboutSection/en/news/newsroom/news.html/en/isabel-marant-brings-her-french-touch-to-hm.html) .

#64 Air Hostess

y (18)

I have just arrived back to Edinburgh on the plane I’m absolutely k-o’d, but I always love flying, especially on a clear night. Air stewards do make me laugh though, what an odd job. But,, they do manage to always look glamorous, and who wouldn’t feel it in a silky scarf tie. This outfit would do wonders: the panelling on the pencil skirt magically slims legs, and high neck crop tops (love these with high-waisted leigh jeans too) enhance the top half, with a waist cinching belt, all creating a really feminine look. Offset the sultry tone with manly loafers, perfect for a long day on your feet. And don’t forget the red lips (MAC is the one and only. Why isn’t it my birthday yet??)
Throughout this whole post I had ‘air hostess’ by Busted going round and round in my head.

#63 Mary Berry

It’s my favourite time of the week again: The Great British Bake Off! Now, I think the wonderful Mary Berry is an unlikely style icon for all us bake-a-holics. Her bold floral jackets, simple blouses and statement pearls make for a sophisticated look. Check out my instagram for my cake-porn 🙂
If you’re in or around Edinburgh, contact me on ma-lp@hotmail.co.uk , as I run a home bakery business and am happy to get orders. Who do you want to win the bake off?
